Ms. Barbara Saebeck, AGORA Energiewende Member, spoke in Panel II on the 50 most appropriate solutions for Germany to achieve the 2030/2045 targets.
In April 2021, Germany set a much more ambitious target, achieving climate neutrality by 2045, which will attract a mix of pragmatic policies. Among the objectives we find: in the electricity sector – accelerating the procedure for eliminating coal consumption by 2030 and increasing the rate of expansion of renewable energy to 70%, in the transport sector – cars and trucks must become electric and the number of cars reduced till 2030, in the building / construction sector – elimination of gas and oil heating; in the industrial sector – hydrogen, electrification and the use of industrial biomass to replace coal and natural gas.
Among the top 22 measures to be implemented in the first 100 days of the new government, Mrs. Saerbeck discussed about: preparation of the allocated budget and climate law, expansion of wind energy, tripling solar energy by 2030, expansion of virtual power plants to ensure climate neutral energy suppliers .
